| Shenism or Chinese folk religion is the collection of religious traditions which have comprised the predominant belief system in China and among Han Chinese ethnic groups. Chinese folk religion primarily consist in the worship of the shen: deities, spirits, awarenesses, consciousnesses or ancestors. Holy narratives regarding some of these gods are codified into the body of Chinese mythology. |
